C.G. Limitations
|
| The animation below takes you through center of gravity limitations for the Cessna 172R. Remember to review the limitations in your own Pilot's Operating Handbook. Use these numbers for reference only. |
| Note the difference between the normal category C.G. limits compared to the Utility category limits below. |
|
The utility category has a more restrictive forward C.G. range. This is due to the spin maneuver that is allowed only in this configuration.
The necessity to be more easily able to lower the nose is imperative when performing this maneuvers.
Maneuvers allowed in the NORMAL Category: * Chandelles.............................................105 KIAS * Lazy Eights............................................105 KIAS * Steep Turns.............................................95 KIAS * Stalls(except whip stalls)....................Slow Deceleration Maneuvers allowed in the Utility Category: * Chandelles.............................................105 KIAS * Lazy Eights............................................105 KIAS * Steep Turns.............................................95 KIAS * Stalls(except whip stalls)....................Slow Deceleration * Spins....................................................Slow Deceleration Remember that aerobatic maneuvers have the potential to impose great stress on the aircraft if not done properly. Make sure that if you are performing any of these maneuvers, that you have received adequate instruction from a certificated flight instructor. The aircraft is very aerodynamically clean and will build speed very quickly. Be carefull not to exceed any limitations and avoid full abrupt control movements. This will help to avoid overstressing the aircraft. |
